The whole Island, as seen from a distance. Hrísey is Iceland's second biggest island Sneak peak into the project I've been working on whilst here!
Book made from cloth coloured in the print rooms and various other print room scraps from this year. Embossed letters as requested by it's new owner :)
Business cards!! Each one is unique, I screen printed them in big sheets with a blank screen and leftover ink from other student's projects. I am catching a train back to my parent's house in a couple weeks...so all of my paper has to either turn into something marketable or get recycled. That's a lot of pressure when the stuff becomes such a part of your life! I suppose it's a good reminder that there's more to life than collecting things to make books from... Monoprinted book cloths! These books will hopefully be for sale within a few days. Totally loved being able to simply mess around in the print rooms without fear of a deadline.
The business cards I managed to rustle up last minute (due to some technical hitches) with monoprint and a black pen. I'm pretty pleased with them though. One of those serendipity things. Finished copy! Written by Sara Currey, Illustrated by Karen Berghorst A mix of woodcut, screen print and hand painting Find out more about Orphaleena at www.orphaleena.com
I had around 26 pieces to put up as part of my exhibition, and as someone who is notoriously bad at measuring things on walls, I was pretty chuffed it was right the first time, to say the least! Beautiful bike ride along the Dyke. The Netherlands was famously windy, but the sunshine held out for most of my visit so I can't complain at all! Sneak peak at the binding project I've been working on...can't wait to photograph them once finished!
Leaving you with some pretty pictures from a spontaneous trip to Ontario, Canada to get away from the February drizzle, and another unexpected blessing of a week in Cornwall as a Bath Spa Porthleven Prize 2017 Shortlistee.
One project completed during my absence; a friend's wedding book. Screen printed on tissue backed book cloth and hand coloured. Below are some photos from the drive from Inverness back down south.
